The Human Body Is Electromagnetic
Under the older Newtonian clockwork paradigm, which governed
biological research for much of the past century, it was taken for granted that life's functions are based upon water chemistry
(the ancient categorization based upon the elemental substance from which it is made: metal, fire, water, etc.).
It was an accepted fact in science that the body is not electromagnetic,
and that neither electricity, magnetism, nor any type of vibration had a role in medicine or biology.
Eventually, it was proven (though still not not fully accepted by some)
that the body is full of electromagnetism, and that this natural electromagnetism has primary functions in health, illness,
healing, consciousness and mental health.
Further, the body's natural electromagnetism seems to be in a harmonic
resonance with other vibrations, including sound and light, which play roles in the body's natural functions.

Galvani's Theory
When electricity was discovered in the eighteenth century,
mystics and believers in religion hoped that the soul could be proven to exist flowing as electricity through the body.
Initially, when scientists could find no evidence for electricity in
forms or the soul, mystics and religionists maintained that science lacked the sophisticated instruments for finding it.
Then, in the 1780's, Luigi Galvani, in Italy, saw sparks jump into
frog legs he had hung out to dry. When the sparks hit the legs, the muscles contracted, and the frog legs kicked.
Galvani, a diligent scientist, researched the phenomenon in great depth.
In l79I, Galvani made an announcement that the basic life force, an electrical elan vital, flows through the nervous system.
Galvani's announcement was rebuked by the scientific critics of his
time.

New Electricity, Old Resistance
Two years after Galvani's public announcement, Alessandro
Volta declared that Galvani had discovered a new form of electricity. Volta claimed the electric currents Galvani had found
were caused by salt ions in the body.
Still, Galvani's work was ignored. Volta gained fame for developing
the battery.

Evolutionary Brake
Resistance to change is actually normal
and desirable. Revelation declares social progress requires a braking action. It is healthy for society to have science or
cultural change proceed slowly and not accept radical change too quickly.

Impulse Not Considered a Current
In the 1840's, Emil Du Bois-Reymond demonstrated
a measurable electrical impulse traveling down a nerve. He, like Galvani in the 1780's, believed he had found the basic life force.
Du Bois-Reymond announced that electricity ran through the nervous
system like currents running through wires, and that the soul had a scientific basis.
Du Bois-Reymond also became a target for criticism. It was argued that
the impulse he had found could not be a true electric current for two reasons. First, the impulse traveled much too slowly
for electricity, and second, nerves don't have the proper insulation or resistance to conduct a current.
The reaction of the critics was not scientific. The question of bio-electricity
and the existence of the soul is an emotional issue.

“Action Potentials”
Distinguished From Electricity
In 1868, Julius Bernstein, a student of
DuBois Reymond, found that all cell membranes have an electrical polarization. Sodium ions, with a positive
charge (atoms missing one electron) sit on the outside of the membrane. Chloride ions, with a negative charge (atoms
having an extra electron) reside on the inside of the membrane.
When the nerve is stimulated, the ions switch places
across the membrane, changing the electrical polarization for an instant. They then return to their normal places.
This change of electrical potential moves down the nerve
as if it were a true current. Bernstein called it an “action potential." Bernstein's hypothesis was supported
by the scientific community.
The conclusion of the scientists was that this action
potential was not true electricity. It was accepted as “electro-chemistry."

Concept of Bio-Electricity
Thwarted
Another form of electricity in the body
had been discovered in the 1830s by Carl Matteuci, who found a small direct current at the site of tissue injury. Since he
did not find it in the central nervous system, it wasn't considered meaningful.
Bernstein proposed that the current of injury
was the result of ions leaking from damaged cells and was not true electricity. Berstein's opinion was accepted.
The last hope, at that time, for finding electricity
in the nervous system was the possibility that an electric spark or current would be found which jumps from one nerve to the
next at the synapse, at the nerve junction.
This hope was dashed in 1920 when Otto Loewi proved that
it was chemicals that bridge the gap across the synapse. Scientists believed they had finally disproved the idea of bio-electricity.

From Franz Mesmer to Wilhelm Reich
As far back as the l770's, the father of hypnosis, Franz
Mesmer. a medical doctor, began to experiment with new electromagnetic devices using magnets to treat a variety of different
conditions.
Dr. Mesmer hypothesized that a fluid of animal magnetism flowed through
the body, and that this fluid was an agent in healing when affected by the magnets he used as treatment. His work attracted
the ire of the medical establishment, who disagreed with his theories, and were suspicious of his results and his intentions.
Mesmer met a priest who passed his hands over patients achieving apparent
cures. Mesmer declared that animal magnetism caused the cures. He declared he too had this type of animal magnetism, which
he used therapeutically.
Mesmer's work created great controversy. The French government appointed
a group to evaluate him. Included in the group were Ben Franklin and Dr. Guillotine, the inventor of the guillotine. The group
concluded the magnetic fields did not exist, so any cures were impossible. They labeled Mesmer a fraud.
To explain the results Mesmer achieved with his therapy, medical
authorities invented the concept of hypnosis. They claimed people merely responded to Mesmer's suggestions of animal magnetism
and healing. (They were “mesmerized.”)
Making claims for bio-energy remained risky. Dr. Wilhelm Reich
(1897 – 1957) a student of Freud, researched the subject deeply. He was put in jail for making claims that his bio-energy
therapies could cure cancer. Some of his books were burned by the U.S. Government. He died in an American prison.

The Flexner Report
Throughout Europe and the United States
in the late nineteenth century, a variety of electrical and magnetic devices were used for healing. Many claims of success
were made.
Some of these claims were probably valid. Many
of the early electro-magnetitc therapists did harm. Nikola Tesla, “The Father of Physics," invented several electromagnetic therapies.
In 1909, the United States government issued the Flexner
Report. The report was made to upgrade and standardize medical education and medical care in the United States.
The Flexner Report declared that electromagnetic energies
were not part of physiology or medicine. The anti bio-electric position became government policy, and electromagnetic devices
became illegal.
People who believed in bio-energy or used any kind of
bio-electric or bio-magnetic approach were considered charlatans and quacks.

Scientific Dogma Challenged
Dr. Robert O. Becker used basic science research to overthrow the anti bio-electric position.
As an orthopedic surgeon, Becker frequently faced
bone fractures that would not heal. Wanting to investigate potential treatment options that might solve this problem, Becker
felt an answer might lay in the area of bio-electricity.
Becker's plan was to study the current of injury
in salamanders and frogs for an extended period of time, to determine whether this electric current was an artifact caused
by ion leakage, as Bernstein had proposed, or whether it was a true natural current.
If the current of injury proved to be a true current,
Becker wanted to know if it was different in salamanders (the only vertebrate able to regenerate limbs (and have no problems
with fractures that don't heal) than in frogs, who do not regenerate limbs. He wanted to determine if there were applications
to healing in humans.
When Becker applied for a grant in 1961, the spokesman
of the research committee said he would not stand idly by and see the medical school associated with such charlatanry, but
the research grant was approved because one professor with experience in salamander research believed that research should
be fun, and that young researchers should be encouraged.
Becker's study produced positive results. The current
of injury was real, not an artifact (a product of human conception). The current of injury did play a role in the salamander's
regeneration, and it did apply to humans.
This led to the first treatment application accepted
by the medical establishment - electrical stimulation devices to enhance the healing of bone fractures.

Perineural Cells
One of the puzzles of Dr. Becker's early research was
that the electrical currents involved in the natural healing of bone fractures were known to come from nerves. But action
potentials were never found during bone healing.
If the nerves were cut at the same time the fractures were made,
the bones healed anyway, but a week later. If the nerves were cut a week before the fracture, the bones healed at a normal
rate. Theoretically, with the nerves cut, there should have been no healing.
The answer to the puzzle was found when they looked at the tissue
slices under the microscope. The nerve's partner and helper, the perineural cell, grew back and somehow carried the message
for the bone to heal.
The perineural cells are constant companions to nerve cells, or neurons.
Without perineural cells, neurons can't function. However, perineural cells can function without neurons. And, perineural
cells are a primary participant in the functioning of the nervous system.
The neurological message for healing was being passed through the
perineural cells. The perineural cells conduct a true electrical current.

Types of Electricity
There
are different kinds of electrical currents. The most common is the free flow of electrons through a metal conductor, like
copper wire. Of course, the body does not have this kind of current.
A second kind of electricity, also very common, is the ionic current
as in batteries. Ions are atoms or molecules in water that have either a surplus or deficit of electrons. Because ionic molecules
are so big, they can't go very far. Although ionic currents exist in the body, they are of little impact.
A third type of electrical current is called semi-conduction.
Semi-conduction was discovered in the 1930s, an odd curiosity of quantum
theory. It was found that electrons could leap through a crystal, creating a small electric current.
|
|
The
Body Is a Natural Semi-Conductor
For a semi-conducting current, a highly ordered and regular
molecular structure is required, which is the case with crystals.
The semi-conducting currents in crystals can carry and manipulate lots
of information, as in computer chips.
Just as the science of semi-conduction has made artificial intelligence
possible in computers, natural intelligence in humans also depends on semi-conduction.
The first person to suggest that semi-conducting currents might be
found in the body was Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, who won a Nobel Prize for his work on vitamin C.
In 1941, he spoke about the fact that when you break down living material
into its primary building blocks, you lose some basic part of life, and you are left only with dead matter.
Szent-Gyorgyi suggested that the basic quality of life that gets lost
in this process might be electricity. He thought that the natural electric currents might be semi-conducting, because proteins
have the crystalline structure that is necessary for semi-conduction.
More on Szent-Gyorgyi.
|
Super-Conduction
Another type of electric current is super-conduction. In super-conduction, the electric current
flows without resistance with no loss of energy.
This was first discovered in Holland in 1911, when Heike
Kamerlingh Onnes, the Dutch physicist, brought the temperature of mercury close to absolute zero, the lowest degree possible,
and found no electrical resistance. This phenomenon wasn't explained until 1957.
There is evidence that super-conduction exists
in living matter. In the future it may be determined that life itself is super-conducting.
For now, scientists are focused on semi-conduction.
More on Heike Kamerlingh Onnes.

|
Deserved Recognition
In his research, Dr. Becker found that the
electric currents in the perineural cells were of the semi-conducting variety. He found semi-conduction throughout the body.
Semi-conduction is an important part of the natural function
of bone and skin, as well as the perineural cells.
Dr. Becker's discoveries and proofs were the foundation
for the scientific understanding of bio-energy.

The Aura
Because
all electric currents radiate electromagnetic fields, and because the body is full of electric currents, it is now legitimately
scientific to talk about the body as having a living electromagnetic field or aura. The electromagnetic field of the body
is no longer considered the imagination of quacks and charlatans.
Studies of the body's electromagnetic field have begun including the
magnetic field around and in the body, as well as at the infrared and microwave radiations of the body including sound and
light, which radiate from the body.
Study of the aura of the body has resulted in new developments in acupuncture.
Acupuncture points were studied by Dr. Becker, who found that approximately half of the points he studied had unique electrical
qualities, which suggests a semi-conducting lattice of meridians.

New Dimension of Brain Function
Initially, perineural cells, which make
up ninety percent of the cells of the brain, were believed to be simply structural support for the neurons. Then it was realized
that neurons couldn't function without perineural cells.
Now it is known that perineural are electrically active.
The entire brain is a humming electromagnetic field, with billions of true semi-conducting direct electrical currents plus
the action potentials of neurons. This means that the brain operates in a whole other dimension than previously considered.
Evidence exists that when a person makes a decision to
move a muscle, there is a change in the direct currents (DC) in the brain before the nerves fire.

Penetrating the Mysteries
Scientific research has traditionally
sought solutions to problems through the clockwork (Newtonian) paradigm. Such research looked only at the Qualified Absolute
half of reality (the Yin). Newer research is discovering the uniquely different Yang side of reality, the realm of the Unqualified
Absolute.
The
important functions of the nervous system, as understood, were the action potentials (that carry the message through the neuron)
and the neuro-transmitters, which carry the message from one neuron to another.
However, all the knowledge gained has not helped to penetrate
the basic mysteries of life. The mechanisms of consciousness, memory, the senses, emotions, intelligence and healing are still
not understood.
With the newer knowledge of bio-electricity, these mysteries
can be approached in a new light. For example, when a person has a thought, this thought is a combination of the semi-conducting
direct currents and the action potentials, plus the resultant electromagnetic fields. Each thought must have a physical
existence that resonates through the whole body mind and travels through space, in much the same way as radio or television
waves travel.
Each thought also must radiate through the zero point field
into infinity, without obstruction. When men have an image in their mind, this image also has an electromagnetic expression,
a real existence, similar to a hologram. This applies to dreams, feelings and desires as well. All mind is being constantly
expressed and radiated from men's brains as electromagnetic frequencies traveling at the speed of light or even faster in
the vacuum field.
Just as the brain is a transmitter, it is also a receiver.
Thoughts and images floating in the atmosphere are received. Sometimes people can direct what they receive, as Jahn's
experiments in Precognitive Remote Perception demonstrated. Most people don't realize that the source of many of their thoughts
are outside themselves.
For example, cultural beliefs and attitudes are constantly
being radiated all over a society. As a member of the culture, it is very natural to believe what every one else believes.
Those who do not have the same cultural beliefs and attitudes,
who have different thought patterns, also have different energy patterns. As mens' systems have evolved to sense these
energy patterns (whether realized consciously or not), those with different energy fields feel alien.

The worship experience consists in the sublime attempt of the
betrothed Adjuster to communicate to the divine Father the inexpressible longings and the unutterable aspirations of the human
soul--the conjoint creation of the God-seeking mortal mind and the God-revealing immortal Adjuster. Worship is, therefore,
the act of the material mind's assenting to the attempt of its spiritualizing self, under the guidance of the associated spirit,
to communicate with God as a faith son of the Universal Father. The mortal mind consents to worship; the immortal soul craves
and initiates worship; the divine Adjuster presence conducts such worship in behalf of the mortal mind and the evolving immortal
soul. True worship, in the last analysis, becomes an experience realized on four cosmic levels: the intellectual, the morontial,
the spiritual, and the personal--the consciousness of mind, soul, and spirit, and their unification in personality.
Page 80
The Eternal Son
is infinite, but he is approachable through the persons of his Paradise Sons and through the patient ministry of the Infinite
Spirit. Without the bestowal service of the Paradise Sons and the loving ministry of the creatures of the Infinite Spirit,
beings of material origin could hardly hope to attain the Eternal Son. And it is equally true: With the help and guidance
of these celestial agencies the God-conscious mortal will certainly attain Paradise and sometime stand in the personal presence
of this majestic Son of Sons.
Page 82
This gravity control of spiritual things operates independently of time and space;
therefore is spirit energy undiminished in transmission. Spirit gravity never suffers time delays, nor does it undergo space
diminution. It does not decrease in accordance with the square of the distance of its transmission; the circuits of pure
spirit power are not retarded by the mass of the material creation. And this transcendence of time and space by pure spirit
energies is inherent in the absoluteness of the Son; it is not due to the interposition of the antigravity forces of the Third
Source and Center.
Page 82
Spirit realities
respond to the drawing power of the center of spiritual gravity in accordance with their qualitative value, their actual degree
of spirit nature. Spirit substance (quality) is just as responsive to spirit gravity as the organized energy of physical matter
(quantity) is responsive to physical gravity. Spiritual values and spirit forces are real. From the viewpoint of personality,
spirit is the soul of creation; matter is the shadowy physical body.
Page 94
As the Sons of
God are engaged in the gigantic task of revealing the Father's personality of love to a universe, so is the Infinite Spirit
dedicated to the unending ministry of revealing the combined love of the Father and the Son to the individual minds of all
the children of each universe. In these local creations the Spirit does not come down to the material races in the likeness
of mortal flesh as do certain of the Sons of God, but the Infinite Spirit and his co-ordinate Spirits do downstep themselves,
do joyfully undergo an amazing series of divinity attenuations, until they appear as angels to stand by your side and guide
you through the lowly paths of earthly existence.

5. SERAPHIC MINISTRY TO MORTALS
Angels do not
invade the sanctity of the human mind; they do not manipulate the will of mortals; neither do they directly contact with the
indwelling Adjusters. The guardian of destiny influences you in every possible manner consistent with the dignity of your
personality; under no circumstances do these angels interfere with the free action of the human will. Neither angels
nor any other order of universe personality have power or authority to curtail or abridge the prerogatives of human choosing.

When Less Is More
Many people are skeptical of the idea that the body can send
and receive energy. The skeptics say that even though the body has electromagnetic fields, these fields are too small to be
meaningful.
However, Dr. Becker realized an important principle
in bio-electricity that answers this objection.
Becker's principle is spiritual where less
is more. At the spiritual level, small currents and fields may have an effect, while larger currents or fields may not.
To regenerate a leg, many different kinds of cells
need to be manufactured. However, it had been accepted by biologists that once a cell becomes specialized (like a muscle),
it could not go back to a more primitive state and later become, for example, a nerve cell.
Becker saw that in salamanders, after amputation
of a leg, their red blood cells de-differentiated; they reverted to a more primitive state. Then a group of these primitive
cells (called a blastema) would be in position to develop into a normal leg.
Becker took a group of red cells and tried to electrically
stimulate de-differentiation (regression of a specialized cell or tissue to a simpler unspecialized form).
Because the natural electric currents which influence
regeneration are so small, Becker first tried to apply a larger current to the cells to get them to de-differentiate. The
large currents gave no results. Becker applied progressively smaller currents.
Finally, he used currents in the biological range,
the very lowest technically possible. He got positive results. The cells did de-differentiate. They became more primitive.
This experiment demonstrated the importance of natural
electricity in controlling primary body functions. It showed that the body works with very minute electric currents and fields.
It also supports the idea that the small currents or fields created by thoughts and feelings are of practical significance.
If electrical currents in the biological range can stimulate tissue changes such as regeneration, perhaps it is not unreasonable
to consider that the magnetic fields generated by thoughts and feelings can stimulate reactions in people, plants, and animals.
When Becker realized that electric currents played
a central role in regeneration, he attempted to use very small electric currents to stimulate regeneration in rats. (Rats,
like humans, do not regenerate amputated limbs.)
He succeeded in obtaining the very beginning of
regeneration. Although unable to get the full regeneration of a limb, the first step of partial regeneration was accomplished.

The Electromagnetic Field Is a Unified Whole
One of the most mysterious aspects of life was discovered
in regeneration studies with salamanders early in the last century. The overall pattern of the body is as much a part of
the body as any individual cell or organ.
It is known that if you amputate the foreleg of a salamander, first
the blastema (the undifferentiated cells) will develop. Then the blastema transforms itself into the new, complete foreleg.
If you transplant the blastema early in its developments, till undifferentiated, to the area of the hind leg, it will develop
as a hind leg. If you wait a few weeks, while it is still an undifferentiated blastema, then transplant it, it will develop
into a foreleg.
The early blastema knows where it is, and the late blastema knows
where it was.
Each part of the body knows where it is in relation to the whole body.
It is known there is an electromagnetic field in and around the body.
Electromagnetic fields are excellent for storing, carrying, and processing information.
Perhaps the overall electromagnetic field carries the information of
the body's shape and pattern. This information would be stored as gradients within the field.
These electromagnetic gradients would activate the DNA in tissues such
as blastemas to communicate to them what they need to know. In the case of salamander regeneration, it activates the genes, that dictate "foreleg" or "hindleg" about halfway
through the life of the blastema.
This same process is likely responsible for the development of the
fetus, as well as normal maintenance and healing of tissues.

High Voltage
Mechanism
An
important aspect of the body electric is the polarized cell membrane. Not only neurons, but every cell in the body has an
electrical polarization across the membrane. This electrical polarization seems to be very small, so the electrical
aspect of it has been considered meaningless.
In fact, the actual electrical potential is fifty
millivolts across a thickness of fifty angstroms. This is a small amount of electricity over a very small distance. Angstroms
are the measure for the size of atoms.
The cell membrane's electrical potential corresponds
to a voltage of one hundred thousand volts per centimeter, which is high voltage.
The electricity that holds cells together is far from
insignificant.
The body is a high voltage mechanism.
|
|
Pure Energy
Each molecule, each atom, is itself a true electromagnetic
process in its own right. Atoms are not solid particles.
DNA is not just a chain of particles, but a chain of swirling electromagnetic
energies. The same is true for proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and water.
Each of these electromagnetic entities has its own frequencies, its
own rhythms of pulsation, and its own sounds.
Each of these electromagnetic entities contributes to the whole of
a human being. Each is a part of a human's life energy.
Humans are pure energy.
|
|
A Composite Harmonic
Each cell is an energy field with consciousness, created
by the vibrating molecules that make up its body, by the electrical potentials across the membrane, and by the electromagnetic
fields created by its neighbors.
Each organ system is composed of cells with the same harmony.
Each liver cell, each heart cell, each blood cell - all have their
own characteristic vibrations that monitor and control their functions. The body as a whole is a composite harmonic of systems
and subsystems with all the energy fields interacting with each other.
This composite harmonic, the total field created by all the different
contributors, is an integrated whole, as much as any other part of the body.
Each person, each integrated whole, is absolutely unique in countless
ways. Each dynamic, vibrant being is in a state of evolution.
With each quantum leap in consciousness, there is a transformation
of the energy field.

Law of
Resonance
The
laws that govern waves are different than the laws that govern particles. Looking at the body through wave laws gives a very
different picture.
Waves vibrate. With groups of waves, the vibrations
can be in synchrony or out of synchrony. Resonance is vibration in synchrony.
An important law of waves is the Resonant Principle.
If ten grandfather clocks with the same length pendulum
are set against a wall and started so that they are all moving at different frequencies, within two days, they will all be
moving exactly together.
If you then put one or two clocks out of rhythm, they
will quickly return to the group rhythm in a kind of "phase lock." The larger the number of resonators, the more stable is
the system.
This resonant principle in the body is an important factor
in maintaining health. If some frequency of the body goes out of alignment, it is pulled back by the whole system.
|
|
Free Radicals
The body operates on resonant principles.
One example of this is the acid-base balance. Crucial to good health, it is a reflection of the electromagnetic field.
The acid-base balance is a ratio of differently charged
particles. The more acid particles have less electrons and are positively charged, the more base have more electrons and are
negatively charged.
The particle most responsible for the creation of almost
every chronic disease is called the "free radical." Free radicals are positively charged ions, which normally live only a
very short time. Most are considered very toxic. Because of the electromagnetic nature of free radicals, it is logical that
disturbances of local electromagnetic fields might encourage the delay of destruction of free radicals encouraging the creation
of disease.
According to this model, illness, at a basic level, is
the result of bio-energies going out of their correct frequencies. The natural healing process, then, depends in large part
upon the resonant principle to bring the errant frequencies back to their normal vibratory rates. This would cause free radicals
to have a normal life span allowing the natural healing process to function.

One With
Earth
The resonant
principle is an important connection between humanity and the earth. The earth's frequencies generated in part from the rotating
liquid metal core of the earth are in the same range as those of humanity.
One of the earth's frequency ranges is between one half and thirty
cycles per second. This is the same frequency range as human brain wave patterns.
The principle frequency of the earth is 7.83 cycles per second. Called
the Schumann Resonance (named after the man who discovered it), this is the number of times a light wave can travel around
the earth in a second.
The Schumann Resonance is found in the low range of the alpha frequency
in humanity. When brain waves are pulsating in this rhythm, people are in a relaxed, happy state.
|
|
Sympathetic Resonance
Another important principle is called Sympathetic Resonance.
If you have two tuned violins, and you play a note on one string, the same string on the other violin will also hum even though
it was not touched.
Whenever two vibrating systems are tuned together, it is very easy
to transfer energy from one to the other.
It is plausible to consider people are tuned together, that their cells
are closely tuned. This attunement is greatly enhanced when people are related, such as mother and child, father and child,
or husband and wife.
Energy, such as thoughts or feelings, can be easily transferred from
person to person through sympathetic resonance. It is easy because people are both transmitters and receivers tuned to the
same frequencies.
This is the most likely scientific basis for psychic phenomena, or
so-called "extrasensory perception." Extrasensory perception should be called inner-sensory perception.
A major leap of man towards the recognition of oneness is made as a
man and a woman fall in love and become one physically, emotionally and intellectually. The male is the force of the linear
energy of the Unqualified Absolute, the Yin. The female is the force of the magnetic inward and upward pull of the Qualified
Absolute, the Yang.

Meditation
Affects Brain Waves
Even
though brain waves are an obvious expression of bio-electricity, they have not been considered significant relative to the
subtleties of consciousness. Computerized spectrum analysis is now enabling an understanding of brain wave resonances never
before possible.
People who meditate exhibit a slowing of brain wave
activity into the alpha range, and occasionally as slow as theta. They also demonstrate synchronous brain waves between
the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
Further studies on hemispheric synchronization suggest
that it represents a state of consciousness that is more clear, more awake, more balanced, and more intelligent than when
the hemispheres operate independently.
For more, see: Brain Activity During Meditation.
|
|
Brain Waves and Consciousness
Certain facts have emerged from brain wave
research. First, different brain wave states are associated with different subjective feeling states. These different
subjective feeling states may also represent discrete, different states of consciousness.
For example, most people produce theta waves as they are
falling asleep. The theta state is usually associated with drowsiness and states of reverie - deep relaxation when powerful
images float through the brain. Subjective reports of many creative scientists and artists indicate that their bursts of
creativity come during the theta state.
The alpha brain wave state is relaxed alertness. Upon
closing their eyes in a relaxed state, individuals usually have bursts of alpha waves in their brains.
People who meditate develop more intense alpha brain wave activity.
The alpha waves become stable, with higher amplitude.
Closing one's eyes and relaxing produces alpha waves in bursts.
Beta waves occur between the alpha bursts. With the eyes open, alpha waves disappear, and are replaced by beta waves. This
is known as "alpha blocking."
In meditation, alpha waves become very prominent. In
meditators, the amplitude or strength, of the alpha waves increase, suggesting that the individual is literally more electric.

Brain
Waves From Direct Currents
Normal
EEG devices (electroencephalogram recorders of brain activity) do not reveal the subtleties of consciousness. They only read
the most prominent waves produced.
The brain consists of about 10 billion neurons, plus
100 billion perineural cells. The brain wave, as understood through the bio-electromagnetic model, is primarily the result
of the direct currents in the perineural cells. Action potentials obviously are reflected in the brain wave pattern, but their
total influence on the pattern is probably much less than that of the direct currents.
With computerized spectrum analyses, it is possible to
look at all the electrical activity anywhere in the brain. The deeper look at electromagnetic occurrences in the brain can
reveal significant information.
It is anticipated that both matter and electricity
will be found to be functions of the consciousness of the whole existence. Our tiny beings are part of this whole, inseparable
parts as described by Bohr.
The body electric may be the soul, or
it may be the physical expression of the soul through the body - a lower harmonic of the soul.

Evolution of the
Theory of Evolution
The theory of evolution, proposed independently in 1859
by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russell Wallace, is one of science's most successful theories. The basic concepts of evolution
have been accepted almost universally. Darwin and Wallace proposed that life evolved from the random combinations of inorganic (lifeless)
matter into organic (living) molecules. These organic molecules learned how to replicate. They evolved into single-celled
organisms, which themselves evolved through random mutations into different plants and animals. Randomness is a central tenet of Darwinian
evolution.
|
Science Forgot Wallace
Darwin and Wallace proposed that
plants and animals compete with each other for space and for food, and that the winners of this competition survived as a
species. Darwin called it "natural selection,"or "survival of the fittest." Darwin's theory of evolution,
as understood today, assumes that consciousness arose as a by-product of the random evolution of life through biochemistry.
Wallace believed that there was supernatural intervention in at least three points of the evolutionary process. Wallace could not accept that random
evolution explained the creation of life, human consciousness, and culture. He spent his later years immersed in an intense
metaphysical search. Wallace's search for spiritual explanations of evolution is part of the reason that only Darwin is remembered.
Jesus anticipated the unresolvable controversies of Darwin and Wallace: “Scientists
may some day measure the energy, or force manifestations, of gravitation, light, and electricity, but these same scientists
can never (scientifically) tell you what these universe phenomena are. Science deals with physical-energy activities;
religion deals with eternal values. True philosophy grows out of the wisdom which does its best to correlate these quantitative
and qualitative observations. There always exists the danger that the purely physical scientist may become afflicted with
mathematical pride and statistical egotism, not to mention spiritual blindness.” 1

Consciousness
Is More Than Mind
Most scientists today believe that
consciousness is directly associated with the mind, particularly with the mind's linear, rational thought processes. Mind
is considered mainly a human quality, and that animals have a rudimentary kind of consciousness at best.
So, Schrodinger could put a theoretical cat in a box, considering the cat as unthinking matter. No physicist protested in
favor of the cat's consciousness. Scientists assumed that cats don't think, and therefore have no consciousness. However,
there may be confusion over the terms"consciousness" and "mind." It is mind that creates thoughts. Thoughts run one after another
in what William James, the psychologist, described as the "stream of consciousness." Consciousness is much broader
than mind and thoughts. Consciousness even functions at the cellular level. The evolution of consciousness appears
to have a goal of metaphysical awakening, even infinite awakenings.

Evolution Is a Clockwork
Theory
Much of the
theory of evolution has been confirmed. The biochemistry of the cells of all life, whether in humans, animals, plants, or
bacteria is nearly identical. The cell structures and processes are basically the same. Only an expert could tell the difference
between a cell from a human body and a cell from a plant. This suggests that everything evolved from a common source. The
genetic transmission from generation to generation has been explained to a great extent. However, the theory of evolution is still a clockwork
(Newtonian era) theory. It considers consciousness a by-product of matter, and merely a consequence of evolution.
If, as suggested by quantum theory, consciousness is a basic attribute of everything, one would expect it to play
a role in evolution. Consciousness may be a driving force behind evolution.

Definition of Life
Science
does not have a scientific definition for life. Science simply explains life as made from organic matter. Organic
matter is made from carbon. oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and a few other assorted elements. If something is not made of organic matter, it is not
alive. Therefore, science doesn't believe the earth and the sun are alive since they are not made of organic matter. One branch of etymology traces
the derivation of the term organic as "from organized living beings." Organic matter has a certain type of organization.
Organization is the essence of life.
Electromagnetic
fields are known to be able to carry tremendous amounts of information through the organization of their vibrations.
The organization of the ubiquitous electromagnetic energies discovered in the body could be considered a basic aspect of life.
Perhaps the energy is more basic to life than organic matter. These same electromagnetic energies have been found throughout
the universe. They are generated all over the galaxy and the universe. Some cutting-edge astrophysicists believe that trans-galactic
magnetic fields may have played a major role in the organization of star systems. The Earth generates these frequencies. The sun also generates
them as do human bodies.
|
The Universe Is Alive The implication of quantum physics that consciousness is a basic force implies
that life itself may be a basic quality of existence. The cosmic inter-galactic magnetism, with its frequencies pulsating
in the same frequencies of life known by man supports this idea. The universe itself seems to be a conscious living organism. This
conclusion has been dismissed by science as being untestable and therefore unprovable. Something is only considered real when
it has been tested and proven. However, the existence of consciousness is certainly implied, if not proven, in the very fabric
of quantum theory. At least, science can theorize that consciousness and life are inherent parts of
an indivisible existence - that the universe is a single infinite, radiant, transcendental conscious being. If
this is true, it may be theorized that the Earth, which generates its own energy field in the frequencies of life, is a living
cell in this infinite conscious being. Humans are living cells within the living cell of the Earth. According to this theory, just as
red blood cells are part of every individual's life, every individual is part of the life of humanity, of the Earth, and of
the one total existence. The
whole universe or universes, with all its atoms, galaxies, and its infinite, harmonic zero-point vacuum fluctuation field,
pulsates the essence of life.
|
Energy Pattern of Life The
organization that is life, according to the quantum view, must be expressed in the energy patterns of life. For example,
in people, brain wave patterns vary between one and thirty cycles per second. These waves are called extremely low frequency
waves (ELF). The earth generates ELF waves from the rotation of its crystalline metallic core. The waves vibrate in the
mantle and the crust, and then resonate to the farthest reaches of the earth's atmosphere. Life evolved in the field of these
waves. Extremely
low frequency waves are also generated by the sun, and they are prominent in the intergalactic fields throughout the universe.
If these ELF waves have some basic attribute of life, then it becomes scientific to consider the sun and the earth alive. There are probably other frequencies
that are primary aspects of life, and these frequencies may be found to resonate throughout the universe, as well. In terms of evolution, these bio-electromagnetic
frequencies could play a very important role. They could act as patterns for the development of new biological structures.

The Clay Theory A theory on the beginning of evolution
on earth was proposed by Graham Cairns-Smith, a chemist from Glasgow, Scotland. Cairns-Smith proposed that the early replicating
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) arose or evolved in clay, along with micro-crystals.
Crystals have regular, repetitive molecular structures, and they are electrically polarized. The solid-state electrical properties
of crystals are the foundation of modern technology. Natural crystals in the earth make up about one third of the mantle and crust.
They are predominantly silicon and oxygen, silicon dioxide. Silicon is chemically and electrically very closely related to
carbon. Crystals actually grow, self-replicate, and heal themselves when injured (qualities associated with life). According to Cairns-Smith, crystals
were the first form of life on earth. The micro-crystals in the clay acted as scaffolding, so DNA and RNA (ribonucleic acid) could learn how to replicate from the crystals. This theory was used by Richard Dawkins, in his book,
The Blind Watchmaker, to support his argument that evolution could have taken place without a designer, without God
and without a "life force." However, the opposite may be the truth. Cairns-Smith's theory may be the breakthrough needed
for understanding that there is a life force, and how the life force came to life as present day humans know it.

The Evolution of Life Natural
crystals in the earth have their own electrical polarization. The crystals are always vibrating with the Earth's magnetic
field. It has been shown in laboratories that living cells will actually vibrate in resonance with a quartz crystal if
placed next to one. It is entirely plausible that the magnetic field of the Earth, resonating through the natural piezoelectric
crystals, setup the vibrating resonance in inorganic matter that allowed inorganic matter to make the jump to organic matter,
thereby "jump-starting" evolution. From this perspective, the Earth is alive, and humans are literally part of the
life of the Earth, as is all organic life. Perhaps the electromagnetic force of the Earth, imbued with cosmic consciousness
inherent in the zero-point field, became the electromagnetic life force in the cells, kept alive through cell replication,
evolving through some kind of natural or divine selection. It is known that early bacteria evolved the ability to synthesize
magnetite crystals. (Magnetite is the mineral form of black iron oxide, that often occurs with magnesium, zinc, and manganese
and is an important ore of iron.) Magnetite crystals are ordinarily created only by geologic processes in the Earth. These
bacteria make chains of biological bar magnets which are covered with a membrane. The chains are called magnetosomes, and
they are used to help the bacteria find the way to oxygen and food. This indicates that the Earth's magnetic field is of great
importance in evolution, and that magnetism is a primary function even in bacteria. Magnetite crystals have been discovered in the human
brain. Dr. Joseph Kirschvink, a geo-biologist from Cal Tech, found that the human brain actually synthesizes magnetite crystals.
He and his team found five million magnetite crystals per gram of tissue. The membrane covering the brain had 100 million
crystals per gram. Possibly, these crystals are part of the resonant system of the semi-conducting fields and play a major
role in brain function. Since
magnetism is associated with consciousness (changes in consciousness are accompanied by changes in the brain's magnetic field),
it is very likely that primitive consciousness exists in lower organisms.

Cellular Life Consciousness
seems to be a basic aspect of life, even down to the cellular level. Upon viewing a time lapse movie of a single cell in action,
Dr. Becker wrote: "I saw a phantasmagoria, a living tapestry of forms jeweled in minute detail. They danced
together like guests at a rowdy wedding. They changed their shapes. Within themselves, they juggled geometrical shards like
the fragments in a kaleidoscope. They sent forth extensions of themselves like the flares of suns. Yet all their activity
was obviously interrelated; each being's actions were in step with its neighbors'. They were like bees swarming. They obviously
recognized each other and were communicating avidly, but it was impossible to know what they were saying. They enacted a pageant whose beauty
awed me."
This intimate viewing of the internal workings of a cell does not reveal a clockwork type of
mechanism. It suggests a dynamic process of feeling consciousness, probably electromagnetic in nature. The sub-cellular beings
seemed to recognize each other as they danced in step. Such recognition implies awareness. However, there is no reason to
believe that these sub-cellular beings are thinking about what they are doing. They are not cognizant. From the perspective
of a conscious mind, they are unconscious. But within their own environment, it seems clear that they are conscious, feeling,
and intelligent.

Directed Mutation Cellular consciousness may be the guiding force behind
evolution. This tenet has been demonstrated by John Cairns and Barry Hall. Scientific studies suggest that bacteria are able to
affect mutations in response to pressure from the environment. John Cairns and Barry Hall call this "directed mutation"
and "selection-induced mutation." In their laboratories, they have observed mutations in bacteria and yeast that
were not random. When the only food available to a certain bacterial culture was a sugar it could not utilize, the group of
bacteria created the mutation to enable digestion of that sugar, but not other sugars. Cairns and Hall have seen selection-induced mutations
in a variety of bacteria and yeast. Cairns said, "System after system seems to be demonstrating this effect" (in
laboratory studies). To
neo-Darwinists, the idea of directed mutation is heresy, because non-random evolution isn't permitted by the clockwork paradigm.
However, if consciousness is an inherent part of the universe, as quantum physics suggests, then directed mutation would be
expected.

The Intelligence Of Evolution Consciousness and natural intelligence appear to be basic qualities of all life and evolution.
To illustrate, consider the evolution of part of the nervous system. In his book, Embryogenesis, Richard Grossinger wrote: "The oldest synapses occur directly
on the bodies of adjacent cells, but as creatures became more complex another cell process developed for integrating the synaptic
input - the dendrite. Dendrites were apparently an evolutionary response to the complexity of data flowing into single neurons.
They are branched thorny extensions of the cell body (the soma), often indistinguishable." 1
Grossinger sees dendrites as a refinement
of the nervous system's ability to process information, and to do their job in response to the increasing needs of the nervous
system. Dendrites are an important part of the process that makes people intelligent. The theory of selection-induced mutation would suggest
that it was the intelligent response of the system, rather than simply random mutations that brought about additional dendrites. Just as the sub-cellular beings described
by Becker seem to have their own feeling consciousness, their own intelligence, it seems reasonable to infer that budding
dendrites would be dancing in a similar way, in step with their neighbors, naturally finding the right step with the right
partner to further its evolutionary imperative. Grossinger also says that the "evolutionary force" that was pulling the dendrites
seems to be a kind of natural intelligence of the consciousness inherent in all life, manifesting in the natural electromagnetic
fields that permeate all life. 1 Grossinger, Embryogenesis, North Atlantic Books.

Consciousness Not Separated In
the Newtonian clockwork paradigm, particles are separate from each other, and groups of particles are separate from each other.
Individuals (as a group of particles) are separate from one another, and from other groups of particles. In life, however,
consciousness cannot be considered separate, regardless of the level examined. For instance, a bee hive acts like a single organism,
each bee like a cell in the organism. Grossinger describes this in his book Embryogenesis, 1 "The
individual bees in a hive or ants in a colony may not have enough neurons each to achieve consciousness, but themselves are
like single neurons, or nerve plexes....Perhaps they think themselves as one creature rather than many. Everything about their
world suggests not only the unimportance of the individual, but the nonexistence of the individual." Bees are an example of how the individual
beings in a group are actually parts of a larger system of consciousness. After describing how the hive deals with overpopulation
(with some bees working together to kill certain other bees and then clearing them out of the hive), Grossinger asks, "Is
this consciousness, or unconsciousness? Do the bees even dimly intuit that they embody a cruel and implacable design?"
Whether
they know it or not, the individual bees are inseparable parts of a larger system of consciousness, part of one larger whole. 1 Grossinger, Embryogenesis,
North Atlantic Books, 1986, page 186.

Red Cells Analogous to Bees Red
cells in a human body perform similarly to bees in a hive. In their journeys through their universe of the human body, red
blood cells pick up oxygen, deliver it, trade it for carbon dioxide, bring that back and unload it, only to start all over
again from the heart through all of the organs and the capillaries. Even though individual cells may not think, they still act with great
intelligence as they go about the business of life. Each cell is
a separate being. Yet each cell is part of a larger organization of life's activity. Each cell in the human body has consciousness, but it
is the consciousness of the human within which it resides, not its own. It can't make its own claim to be separate from its
human form.

One Consciousness
All life on Earth is interconnected simply by being on planet Earth and resonating in the
Earth's magnetic field. Humans are all part of one web of life, a delicate global eco-system. Just as the red blood cells
are part of the life of a person, so people are part of the life of the Earth. Perhaps, just as consciousness of the blood
cells actually belongs to each individual human, the consciousness of each individual belongs to the planet, Earth. Humans
are the result of 550,000,000 years of evolution of life of the Earth. 1 The energy field of the Earth may be what powers evolution.
Human cells are nearly identical to the cells present in all life forms on Earth. People are one form in a rich
symphony of life forms. This
symphony of life is resonating in level upon level, all the way to the zero-point field. All atoms are modifications
of the zero-point vacuum fluctuation field, an infinite field without boundaries. Being made from atoms, humans are modifications
of this field. All life is a modification of the zero-point field. In this way, all life is interconnected, and there is
only one consciousness, inherent in the zero-point field, resonating through all the levels, from super-galactic, solar, planetary,
organismic (humans), cellular, sub-cellular, atomic, and sub-atomic.

Life Is Intelligent
At the
present level of science, all that can be stated scientifically about the one consciousness from the zero-point field is that
it seems to exist. Rene
Descartes' philosophical decision to separate consciousness from matter has proven to be untenable. Looking through the new
quantum perspective, evolution seems to be the manifestation of the basic consciousness of the zero-point field into energy,
then into matter, into the evolution of life, and the development of the mind. Perhaps it can be said that matter is crystallized
consciousness, asleep. Life is vibrating liquid-crystal consciousness evolving towards full awakening. On a cellular level, the energy field
and the consciousness of an amoeba is not that different from the energy held and the consciousness of a single human
cell. All life processes, both ancient and modern, are expressions of the same energy field and the same consciousness. All
life processes have intelligence. Life is inherently intelligent. It has to be intelligent to survive.

Competition or Cooperation
Natural selection or "survival of the fittest," was the idea of Charles Darwin. Darwin first presented
his concept in 1858, when he stated that all nature is at war, one organism with another, or with external nature. Darwin's notion of survival of the fittest is now deeply ingrained
in the collective and individual psyche. Human culture has put competition in an exalted state, thinking evolutionary
progress is the result of natural competition. Modern science is finding the opposite may be true. Recent research points to an evolution
through cooperation. In
the long run, competition may destroy current world culture. Survival has always depended upon cooperation.

Cellular Partnerships: The Basis of Life Without
cooperation from the different aspects of evolving life, humans could not have evolved. Cooperation
among species happened when organisms were first starting to evolve. All living cells of all plants and animals are apparently
the result of the cooperative merging of three early cells. Lynn Margulis, from Yale University, suggests that an ordinary bacterium merged with another
type of very simple organism and formed a one-celled partnership. This other organism is known as mitochondria. It is a basic
and necessary component of every cell. Mitochondria
seems to have an autonomous existence within the unified cell. They even have their own DNA and reproduce themselves apart
from the reproduction of the rest of the cell. Mitochondria are like separate cells operating within other cells. They are in charge of the basic
energy operations of their "host" cell. All cells in all plants and animals have this cooperative arrangement. Once the two cells began operating as one, a third type
of cell called cilia joined the partnership. The cilia provided limbs that enable the host cell to move around. This trinitization of cells gave the world of
cells new potentials. With its new mobility, the unified cell was able to interact with other primitive organisms. If these cells obeyed Darwin's law of survival of the
fittest, one organism or another might have survived, but humans and plants would never have come into being.

More Cooperation The plant world is a prime example
of cooperation in nature. All plants get their energy from the sun. The energy is transduced (converted) into usable form by chlorophyll, which
produces oxygen in the process. Chlorophyll
is made from organic molecules (porphyrins), which exist abundantly in outer space, as well as on Earth. Chlorophyll is a molecule in tiny disc-shaped chloroplasts
within the plant cells. The chloroplasts also exist independently as large, single-celled organisms. Apparently, back in the
early days of evolution, single-celled algae joined with larger cells, to enable them to use the sun's energy for their purposes. The new host cells incorporated the algae - DNA, chlorophyll,
and all. With this extra energy burst, still higher order plants were able to evolve. And of course, the entire animal kingdom,
including humans, survive on energy converted by chlorophyll by eating plants (or animals who eat plants) and breathe
oxygen made by plants. Cooperation,
not competition, is the rule of survival.
